Celebrate Chinese New Year at the Royal China

The Royal China in Henley is the epitome of everything that you would want from a first class Chinese restaurant. This newly owned, family run establishment prides itself on exceptional service and high quality produce.

All ingredients are sourced and checked to ensure only the best will be used to produce dishes that really are quite special.

Their aim is to create an establishment of the highest regard where everyone is welcome. Appealing to everyone from corporate lunchers, to families and larger groups the Royal China really is perfect for everyone.

We popped in on a lunchtime for some tantalising tasters and were greeted with warm smiles from staff and diners alike. Commencing with a palate cleanser of traditional Chinese tea in quaint cup and teapot, we were treated to prawn crackers with sweet chilli dip that were incredibly crispy and moreish! (well that was my excuse!)

As a lifelong vegetarian I was well catered for with crispy sweet potato, vegetarian spring rolls and 'melt in the mouth' crispy seaweed amidst a vast selection of options. My omnivorous friend succumbed to spring rolls and sesame prawn on toast to start followed by spare ribs and chicken satay, the latter of which was the best she had ever tasted.

Beautifully cooked, with the perfect combination of spices the chicken crumbled to the touch as if to admit defeat at the plethora of gorgeous flavours.

The new menu is an eclectic mix of traditional Chinese, with a modern twist mixed with ingredients freshly prepared every day to ensure a supreme dining experience.

The ambience created by the warm welcome of Angela and her family, the fresh flowers and crisp white tablecloths and the scent of a thousand herbs mixed together by expert hands, is hard to not be embraced by.

Ever the perfectionist, Angela strives to be the best and is always going the extra mile for her ever-growing clientele.

She says: "We are very lucky with the fantastic customers that we have and are often now fully booked on weekends. We would encourage people who haven't come to see us yet to come on a weekday when it is a little quieter or reserve for a weekend; and be treated to the very best in Chinese cuisine!"�

Having eaten as much as we could with the very generous portions, a final round of Chinese tea was a perfect end to a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

I would highly recommend this fresh-faced restaurant to all those who have not yet frequented and extend my congratulations to their already loyal customer base at having found Henley's hidden gem.
