Teacher promoted

THE Oratory School in Woodcote has appointed a new assistant head (teaching and learning).

Caryn Harward joined the independent secondary as head of science in September 2020 and has improved the department.

In her new role, she will join the senior leadership team and help Matthew Syddall, deputy head academic, in implementing excellent standards of teaching.

Ms Harward said: “Helping to further shape the professional culture and pupil experience at the Oratory is a fantastic opportunity. I am looking forward to getting started.”

Ms Harward was educated at the University of Port Elizabeth in South Africa, where she read biochemistry. She has an MSc in epidemiology from the School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, University of London, and a PGCE in chemistry from Bath Spa University.
