Night of multi-faceted music spans many eras

WITH a harp, cello, guitar, Irish bouzouki, vocals, percussion and whistles, Moonrakers will be playing at St Andrew’s Church in South Stoke tonight (Friday).

Multi-instrumentalists Sarah Fell (vocals, guitar and piano), Jacqui Johnson (baroque and modern cello, fiddle), Becki Luff (harp) and Jon Bennett (ukulele, guitar, bouzouki and whistles) hail from Oxford.

Sarah Fell won outstanding vocal award at the Ox Factor in 2013 and has appeared at Oxford Folk Weekend.

Jacqui was in the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and has played with the Australian Opera and Ballet companies.

Becki Luff studied at the Royal Northern College of Music and has performed at the Wigmore Hall.

As well as writing children’s songs, Jon Bennett has won the BBC Radio Folkwrite magazine songwriting competition.

The evening, which starts at 7.30pm, will include celtic traditional and contemporary songs and tunes.
