THIS year’s Oxford International Song Festival is themed “Stories in Song”.

Running from Friday, October 10 to Saturday, October 25, there will be events looking at fairy tales, ballads, national song traditions and the stories behind the music.

Venues include the Holywell Music Room, the chapels of New College and Merton College, the Levine Building in Trinity College and the Olivier Hall at St Edward’s School.

World-leading artists including Benjamin Appl, Helen Charlston, Stéphane Degout, Marie-Laure Garnier and Roderick Williams will take part.

The central weekend will explore the music of Franz Schubert.

There will also be a day of Spanish and Latin American songs.

Tickets cost £18 or less (£10 under-35s) and an evening concert with “pay what you can” tickets.
