Henley Society

Henley Society

THE Henley Society’s first autumn talk, held on October 2, featured the Thames Valley Police and Crime Commissioner, Matthew Barber, who explained some of the
difficulties facing his force. More than 60 members heard how Thames Valley Police spends some 25 per cent of its time reacting to domestic abuse complaints.

Matthew’s role is to hold the police to account and represent the voice of the public. He has the power to suspend the Chief Constable.

The force now has more than 5,000 officers and 4,000 support staff and is the largest non-metropolitan police force in England and Wales.
