The group has been inactive for the past two years as it has been unable to find a leader and now the management committee has decided to call it a day.
Mike Cornfield, who chairs the committee, said: “We realised we couldn’t let the situation drift any longer. It’s just a reality of the age we live in — youth clubs all over the country are struggling for leaders.
“Perhaps there is no longer a need for a ‘generic’ youth club. There is now a wider range of youth organisations in the village and the last decade has seen a large expansion of after-school clubs.
“We would like to thank past members, volunteers and staff who have contributed so much of their time and commitment over so many years.”
The club, which started in the Sixties, used to meet on Wednesday evenings at the community centre in Station Road.
There was a range of indoor and outdoor activities for youngsters aged 10 to 18, including pool, table football and computer games and football and rounders in the summer. It also held  “Youth Tube” film screenings on Saturdays at St Thomas’s Church.
Weekly attendances varied from six people to about 50.
