In July we reported (details below) that Pangbourne Rotary Club’s Saerah Hopley had been awarded £5000 by her employers, Reading Scientific Services for her charitable work for Pangbourne Rotary Club.

Saerah decide to donate her Award to the Rotary Foundation’s Polio Plus sche

An additional £1700 was added by the Club’s own Charitable Trust and then this total was increased by 200% by The Gates Foundation making a whopping total of £20,100 to help eliminate Polio globally- a fantastic contribution.

President Brian Davies commented” this donation confirms Pangbourne Rotary as one of the nations leading contributors to this cause, adding to the £120,000 donated from Richard Anderson’s public speaking fees over the past seven years-an achievement which we are truly proud”

Saerah, who works at Reading Scientific Services Ltd (part of Mondelez International) was nominated by her line manager Mai for a Cadbury Foundation Purple Heart Award- for her services to charity, namely Pangbourne Rotary Club. The award from The Cadbury Foundation is worth £5000. Saerah (Past President in 22/23) was delighted to learn that she was one of 14 National winners. Saerah, accompanied by President James Richardson, attended the awards ceremony and lunch on Thursday 19th June at Cadbury’s HQ in Bournville.

The venue was awash with Cadbury products-much to James’ delight, as he returned home with loads for his two young children. Ironically, Saerah is allergic to chocolate.

All members of Pangbourne Rotary Club congratulate Saerah on her achievement.
