PASSERS-BY will have noticed that extensive alterations have been in progress at Messrs Hickie & Hickie’s music saloon in Bell Street, Henley. These alterations were necessitated by the growth in the firm’s business and the work has been carried out by Messrs Walden & Son, of Henley. The effect of the alterations has been to provide greatly increased accommodation.
On Tuesday afternoon members of the Holy Trinity Mothers’ Union met in the Victoria Hall for tea and a social gathering. A very pleasing interlude took place, when Mrs Windsor, on behalf of the members, presented Mrs R M Willis with a handsome brown crocodile leather purse as a small token of their appreciation of the work she has done with the Union during many years’ residence in Henley.
The Henley Lodge of the Scarlet Spiders held a mock trial on Monday evening which passed off most successfully. The charge was one of larceny of a number of “shove half-penny” coins which the prisoner (Mr Ronald Points) was indicted for having stolen but the astute defence of his counsel (Mr G H J Tomalin) resulted in the jury returning a verdict of not guilty.
