A chance to learn how to spin, dye or weave

THIS year’s Inspirational Threads exhibition is on at the Old Fire Station Gallery in Henley from June 13 to 18 and promises to give visitors a flavour of some almost-forgotten crafts.

This biennial exhibition, presented by the Berkshire Guild of Spinners, Weavers and Dyers, will be open from 10am to 4.30pm each day.

The display will include a variety of handspun, hand-woven and hand-dyed textiles.

There will also be demonstrations, have-a-go sessions and workshops for those wanting to get hands-on.

The guild members all share a passion for different fibres — including wool, silk and flax to more unusual materials such as crab and banana.

The fibres are spun, woven, dyed, knitted, felted or crocheted into many different textiles. The skills involved have often taken many years to learn and the crafted items many months to make.
