Bus shelter restoration

10:30AM, Monday 18 September 2023

A DAMAGED bus shelter in Crazies Hill is to be renovated thanks to grants from the Wargrave Heritage Trust and the parish council.

The shelter blew over in heavy winds in February last year. It should be fully restored and fixed to its concrete base by the end of this month.

The council and trust have agreed to fund the work up to a total of £4,300 and the Crazies Hill and Cockpole Green Residents’ Association will meet any shortfall.

The shelter was put up to mark the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. The replacement will retain the original plaque and have a new one to mark the coronation of King Charles III in May.

The work is being carried out by Winson Woodcraft, of Hurst.
