Nets begin at Oratory for expanding club

10:30AM, Monday 16 January 2017

WINTER nets at Peppard Stoke Row Cricket Club begin at the Oratory School on Sunday where the club is urging anyone new to the area or who is keen to return to the game to attend.

The club’s three Saturday sides finished as runners-up in the Berkshire League Premier, Division 2 and Division 4 last season and is hoping to improve on those results in the coming summer.

It also offers two Sunday sides — one of which will compete in the National Village Cup in 2017 — midweek Twenty20 cricket on Wednesdays and Fridays and a junior set-up which has more than 160 members playing from U6 to U19s. A girls’ team was also created last season and is actively looking for more members.

The club is running its first pre-season tour to Warwickshire in late April, and is hopeful that its first and second teams can join the Thames Valley League as it potentially expands in 2018. The club is committed to creating a fourth team which will play in the Berkshire League that summer, a competition which rated the club’s ground as the best in 2016.

Nets run from 1pm to 2pm for seniors, 2pm to 3pm for U15s and U13s and from U11s and below from 3pm.
