Ten-year jail sentence for Slough rapist who targeted woman in town centre

A rapist who targeted a woman in Slough after giving her alcohol late at night has been jailed for a decade.

Andrew Collins, 35, was sentenced to 10 years in jail with a further three years on licence, as well as a sexual harm prevention order, at Reading Crown Court on Thursday (January 22).

Collins, of Beechwood Avenue in Ealing, had been found guilty of vaginal rape of a female by unanimous jury verdict, following a six-day trial in the same court on November 17, 2025.

Detective Constable Cat Sykes, the investigating officer, praised the victim for her ‘incredible bravery’ in helping bring Collins to justice.

Following a Thames Valley Police investigation, a man has been sentenced for rape in Slough.

Collins, then aged 34, was captured on CCTV footage following his victim through Slough town centre between 6pm and 7pm on November 12, 2024.

He approached her and gave him his contact details, arranging to meet up with her again.

Later that evening, he supplied the woman alcohol and then raped her.

Collins was arrested seven days later on November 19, and was charged the following day.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Cat Sykes said: “The victim in this case has shown immense bravery throughout this investigation and we thank her for her continued support, patience and the faith she has placed in the Criminal Justice System.  

“I am pleased that the judge recognised the seriousness of this crime, imposing a sentence which reflects as such. 

“Collins’ sentencing today is a testament to the commitment of Thames Valley Police to bring to justice sexual offenders and to make our streets a safe place for everyone. 

“I would also like to reassure the public that we will always look to prosecute anyone who commits sexual offences, recent or non-recent.

“You will be supported, no matter what the passage of time, and we will bring offenders to justice.”

Collins was found not guilty on one count of oral rape and one count of sexual assault by penetration.
