Chairman wanted

10:30AM, Monday 22 July 2024

THE Sonning Common to Emmer Green cycleway project needs a new chairman.

Parish councillor Jonny Bidgood has resigned from the working party, saying he was unable to take the project any further.

He said: “In July 2021 I presented my paper to the parish. Prior to that, I’d worked on the idea as a resident for more than a year, so I’ve been in it for four years.

“The scale of this project, which relies on landowner participation, means it is very long-term so the time has come for me to move on and pass the baton to someone else.

“We’ve done a hell of a lot of work to get it this far down the line.”

Councillor Rick Scannell thanked Cllr Bidgood for his hard work on the project.

“It has been much appreciated,” he said. “That campaign was one of the first things I noticed when I became a councillor.”
