Pulling power

SPECTATORS giggled quietly as volunteers struggled to unveil a plaque at Goring and Streatley Station on Friday.

Stephanie Bridle, chairman of Goring in Bloom, and John Boler, of Mobility Issues Group for Goring and Streatley, tugged at a woven rope but only a portion of the plate was visible as the curtain became stuck.

In the end, the stand was reluctantly pulled to the side for applause and photographs.
