THE Henley Town Football Club players will have a new look next year.

After winning just one game during the whole of last season (and that was in the last match), the Lilywhites decided at their annual meeting to change colour in the hope that it will reverse the team’s fortunes at the same time.

Club chairman Jack Hollidge tells me: “I didn’t particularly want a change but it was put forward that it might be a good idea as part of a general remodelling. It was met with 100 per cent backing.

“We’re turning the club into a social club as well as a football club and that was one of the changes that people liked the idea of.

“We will be letting the lads change the shirts and colours, moving away from the lilywhite background.”

The club, which is the oldest club in Oxfordshire having been founded in 1871, will be playing in the Uhlsport Hellenic League Division 1 (East) next season.

Let’s hope the makeover brings some better results on the pitch.
