CONGRATULATIONS to artist Camilla Shelley, who was shortlisted for the Ruth Borchard self-portrait prize at King’s Place Gallery, London.

Camilla, who has taught life drawing at The Henley College for 20 years and also leads creative arts at the River and Rowing Museum, tells me that while she didn’t win the £10,000 prize, she is delighted to have her piece selected for the prestigious exhibition.

Her self-portrait, called With And Without Half A Cake, was painted predominantly in oil on canvas and gesso fragments and relates to the landscape of Bix, where she lives.

Camilla was shortlisted for the same prize in 2011 for her last self-portrait called With And Without Grace.

Ruth Borchard was a writer who collected self-portraits by British or British-based artists between 1958 and 1971. She died in 2000. The exhibition is open each weekday until September 22.
