FORMER Henley MP Boris Johnson has encouraged the use of bicycles in London but who would have had him as a wannabe Bradley Wiggins?

An aquaintance from Henley who took part in Sunday’s Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 bike challenge says that at one point he pulled up alongside a rounded chap with unruly blond hair protruding from his cycling helmet, sporting voluminous cotton shorts.

My informant tells me that the “huffing and puffing” gent was indeed the Mayor of London slogging it around the Olympic cycling road race course with a cheerful grin on his face.

Apparently, Boris has very well-defined calves, confirming that he is a keen cyclist. Perhaps now he’ll start growing sideburns...
