WHEN Henley Mayor Stefan Gawrysiak spotted some nurses giving people blood pressure tests on the lakeside path during a civic visit to Bled he quickly rolled up his sleeve for a check-up.

He suffers from high blood pressure but had taken his regular tablet that morning, so was expecting a clean bill of health. However, he had been midway through a brisk walk along the lake, which is not necessarily conducive to a normal reading!

I have no record of Stefan’s results but can report that he returned from Slovenia in excellent spirits.
