FOLLOWING my item last week about Mark Dolan’s magnificent effort standing in at the last minute to compere the Sue Ryder Women of Achievement Awards, I hear he has been invited back next year.

The organisers thanked the comedian on Twitter, saying: “Thank you, Mark, you were a wonderful host for our awards.”

He replied: “An honour to be part of a very special day and a great cause. Sorry about the pink shirt - it was clearly a mistake.”

If Dolan agrees to return next year, at least he’ll have longer to prepare!
