Police spot checks stop 79 drivers

SEVENTY-NINE drivers were stopped by police carrying out spot checks in Reading Road, Henley.

Fifty were caught not wearing a seatbelt and 12 using a mobile phone at the wheel from 8am to 11am on Tuesday, September 9.

Four days later, another 14 were caught with no seatbelt and three more using a mobile phone.

Those not wearing a seatbelt were given £100 fixed penalty notices and those caught using a mobile phone were fined and will receive three penalty points on their licences.
