MAIDENSGROVE’S Tabitha Brake, 14, won her section at the JCB Pony Club National Championships in the PC90 Eventing Championships last month.
Brake, competing as part of the Woodland Hunt Pony Club team alongside Jemimah Ogston, 16, from Sonning Common and Grace Fisher, 19, from Dorney, went into the cross-country element in second place on a dressage score of 29.6 and 0 show-jumping penalties.
Storming around a tough course causing lots of problems for other riders on her pony Tycloony Tornado, known at home as Teddy, she crossed the finish line knowing that her clear round with just a few time penalties meant no one else could beat her.
Brake had enjoyed further success earlier in the week in the novice dressage where she was second in her arena putting her through to the ride-off against all the other competitors places first and second in their arenas where she finished sixth overall.
Woodland Hunt members enjoyed a good week at the championships with teams qualified for junior and intermediate mounted games, mini and junior horse and pony care, PC90 show-jumping and PC100 show jumping. They also fielded a musical ride team, a first for the branch, who were placed seventh.
