WOODCOTE’S Premier Division season got off to a disappointing start as they lost 7-1 at NEWBURY TOWN last Saturday.
The villagers found themselves 3-0 down at half-time before they pulled a goal back through Sam Primmer, but the home side scored four more as Woodcote tired.
HENLEY TOWN slipped to the foot of the table after going down 4-1 away at WESTWOOD WANDERERS after trailing 2-0 at half-time.
The previous Wednesday HENLEY TOWN went down to a 2-0 home defeat against NEWBURY TOWN.
GORING UNITED lost 1-0 at home to MAIDENHEAD TOWN.
The game was evenly contested throughout with a limited number of clear-cut chances for both sides. Maidenhead took the lead just shy of the half-hour mark when a long throw-in was flicked on and nodded home at the second ball.
Goring came close to equalising on several occasions, mostly from set pieces where they looked a threat. In stoppage time, Goring had a penalty appeal turned when Chris Pocock appeared to have been tripped over in the box.
In Division 1, ROTHERFIELD UNITED went down to a 4-3 defeat at BRAMLEY UNITED.
Thomas Keevil had put the visitors ahead after 16 minutes before the visitors netted three goals to lead 3-1 at half-time.
Bramley scored again three minutes into the second half before Jack Morgan scored twice in the last five minutes for the visitors.
HENLEY TOWN DEVELOPMENT went down to a heavy 7-1 defeat at YATELEY UNITED A in Division 1 Reserves.
Henley found themselves on the back foot early, conceding two quick goals within the opening minutes and trailing 4-0 by half-time.
Ten minutes into the second half, Yateley extended their lead to 5-0 before Hugh Barklem came off the bench to score a well-taken consolation goal for the visitors.
Yateley sealed the result with two converted free kicks from just outside the box. HENLEY EXILES crashed to a heavy 5-0 defeat home to FINCHAMPSTEAD UNITED in their Division 2 clash at Harpsden.
The match got off to a cagey start before the visitors took advantage of a misplaced pass at the back to take the lead.
The second half started promising from the Exiles but they were unable to capitalise on their chances.
After the hour mark another mistake proved costly and let Finchampstead in for their second, which swiftly became three.
From there it was an uphill battle as the Exiles capitulated and went on to concede two further goals.
In Division 3, GORING UNITED RESERVES went down to a 3-2 defeat at TAPLOW UNITED.
Archie Baker opened the scoring for ROTHERFIELD UNITED RESERVES after just nine minutes to help his side defeat ALLIED COMMUNITY ELITE RESERVES 2-0 at Bishopswood Sports Ground. Harry Miller netted United’s second goal after 65 minutes.
