Sarah Raven, one of the country’s leading writers and broadcasters on gardening is returning to Bix Manor, Henley in September to run two daytime masterclasses, as well as an evening session on productive plants.
In The Cutting Garden, on Monday, September 9, Sarah will explain how to prepare, plant, maintain and harvest a patch and cover the best sowing and growing techniques.
The autumn is a great time to start sowing for your spring garden, so she will also cover which bulbs you should be planting for spring flowers. The day will also include a session on conditioning and arranging flowers. The event lasts from 10am to 3.30pm and costs £135 per head including lunch.
The evening course - 30 Most Productive Plants - runs from 6.30pm to 8.15pm on Monday, September 9 and will include a glass of wine and nibbles. Sarah will talk about the tastiest and most productive edible plants, giving tips on which to choose and how to grow them. She will also provide plenty of ideas of how to use the plants in simple, quick and delicious recipes.
Arrive from 6pm for tea, coffee or a soft drink. The lecture will be from 6.30pm to 7.30pm and will be followed by a glass of wine. There will also be the opportunity to shop in Sarah’s pop-up shop. The cost of the session is £45 per head.
On Tuesday, September 10, Sarah will present A Day of Flower Arranging, with a mix of demonstrations and slides to show arrangements for every month of the year. She will give tips on making the best flower arrangements - starting with vases for every day and moving to some party pieces. The event runs from 10am to 3.30pm and costs £150 per person including lunch.
