THE beautiful and historic gardens situated in one of the most breathtaking settings in the Chilterns, Stonor Park, will play host to a Rare Plant Fair on Sunday, July 12.
Stonor Park has been owned by the same family for more than 850 years.
Built from circa 1190 and constructed over centuries, the house is of considerable architectural interest.
The main formal garden rises up behind the ancient house and is divided between the original 17th century Italianate walled pleasure garden and the old kitchen garden.
The pleasure garden consists of ponds, clipped box hedges and ancient yews.
Climbing the terrace there is a long mixed border ending with a Japanese garden house.
The old kitchen gardens have been converted by Lady Camoys into large beds and long herbaceous borders.
Rare Plant Fairs are now an established and popular feature of the horticultural calendar.
The event at Stonor Park will be attended by specialist nurseries from across the country.
The nurseries are carefully selected to ensure that they are all genuine growers who know and understand the plants that they offer, and a wide range of interesting and unusual plants will be available for you to buy, along with all the advice that you need to ensure that they thrive in your garden.
The Stonor Park event runs from 11am to 4pm on Sunday, July 12.
