Court update

A NEW hearing room is to be created in Reading Crown Court to increase its capacity.

The Ministry of Justice, which manages the court, will also provide a new jury deliberation and assembly room, two new consultation and video link rooms and a video call room.

The internal redevelopment also includes toilets, and a changing room for advocates.

The majority of the changes will take place in the extended rear section of the building, which was completed in the Nineties.

The project has been given the go-ahead by Reading Borough Council, the planning authority.
