THE annual cost of renting an allotment in Kidmore End has increased by £25.

The parish council agreed the rise after agreeing to submit a planning application to have a gate widened so compost could be delivered more easily.

Allotment users had lobbied the council for support on the project as well as to add a second water trough.

The council offered to manage the project so that VAT could be reclaimed to reduce the cost to allotment-holders by 20 per cent.
