Intense end-to-end play in match full of positives

HENLEY Hawks Mixed Development took to the court against newly formed Falcons Mixed Performance in what was a fast, competitive, and high-energy match from start to finish.

As mixed netball continues to grow, teams like Falcons making the trip to Henley provide invaluable match play for the development squad and showcase the increasing depth and talent within the sport.

The game started with both teams finding their feet, but Hawks settled quickly, using sharp movement and tight defensive pressure to edge the first quarter 6-5. The second quarter followed a similar pattern - Falcons found their attacking rhythm, but Hawks’ determination kept them ahead 10-9 at half-time.

The third quarter saw the intensity ramp up, with end-to-end netball and neither side willing to give an inch. Hawks continued to push, but Falcons responded well and, by the break, the scores were locked at 19-19. From that point, Falcons started to turn the tide. They edged ahead in the fourth quarter, sneaking a 24-23 lead and, as the game wore on, their precision began to show. A dominant fifth quarter saw them pull away to 37-27, before a strong finish extended their winning margin to 46-29 by the final whistle.

Despite the final scoreline, this was a match full of positives for Hawks. The development team showed real composure under pressure, executing some excellent passages of play and demonstrating the progress they have made as a squad. With more match opportunities like this, the team will only continue to grow.
