Henley 2nds maintain unbeaten run

HENLEY 1sts went down to a
17-8 Oxfordshire Squash League Division 1 defeat at home against OXFORD UNIVERSITY last week.

Despite the loss, there was a personal boost for Munro Montanus, who earned valuable SquashLevels points after defeating a higher-ranked opponent. Skipper Harry Carr, still working his way back to full fitness following injury last season, endured a tough five-game battle but narrowly lost to an opponent ranked below him.

Adam Edge, Paul Ski and Andy Martin each claimed a game from their respective opponents, ensuring Henley collected valuable individual points.

Henley remain sixth in Division 1, with Harwell and Nuffield also suffering defeats below them in the table.

In Division 4, HENLEY 2nds once again demonstrated resilience to preserve their unbeaten record in a tense 15-10 win against OXFORD UNIVERSITY 4ths.

The match hinged on two deciding five-game clashes. Richard Little was edged out by David Quinn, while Jim Reay came from behind to secure the vital win that clinched the team result.

Strong 3-1 wins from James Rowson and skipper John Williams proved decisive, keeping Henley almost 50 points clear of second-placed Wallingford.

Elsewhere in the division, HENLEY 3rds slipped to a 16-6 defeat against CARTERTON 2nds.

Joe Edwards delivered a commanding 3-0 win while skipper Peter Rivers secured a valuable point, and Miles Edwards earned two points from a closely contested five-game match.
