Familiar faces to play organ concerts

HENLEY and District Theatre Organ Trust has announced its series of concerts for 2025 to 2026.

The concerts take place on Sundays at Henley town hall, where organists are invited along to play the Allen Digital Theatre Organ.

Starting on Sunday, October 19, Gordon Cree comes all the way from Scotland. He will be playing classical, jazz, music theatre and much more.

Classically trained in piano and singing at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (now the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland), Gordon is world renowned. He contributes to musical projects and performances including classical, jazz, traditional Scottish and music theatre.

On Sunday, November 16, Elizabeth Harrison will be playing. Described as the farmer’s daughter from Lancashire, she plays for all tastes and is equally at home on electronic and cinema organs. Her performances are full of life and expression and her choice of music is interesting and varied.

On Sunday, December 14, Andy Quin returns. He will perform a mix of jazz classics, ragtime hits, bebop and much more.

On Sunday, January 11, 2026, Phil Kelsall MBE, resident organist from Blackpool’s famous Tower Ballroom, will be performing.

Then on Sunday, February 8, Michael Wooldridge returns. His music features classical, rock ’n’ roll and much more.

On Sunday, March 8, it is the turn of Chris Stanbury, who plays music from West End shows and Big Band tunes through to the music of the Sixties and Seventies.

On Sunday, April 12, Tom Horton will be playing music from the movies, shows and dance music.

All concerts start at 3pm (doors open at 2.30pm). Admission is £10 (cash at the door) which includes refreshments.
