Psychedelic mash-ups with individual twists

YEARS ago, musician and audio engineer Pete Brown worked with former Beatle George Harrison.

A couple of summers ago, he ended up playing covers, including some of the more psychedelic Beatles songs, in a pub garden in Brightwell Baldwin with a band he was producing at his studio.

This evolved into Day Tripper, a band who play mash-ups of lesser-known Beatles and George Harrison tracks which are given their own flavour.

Rather than a Beatles tribute band, the group, comprising Pete on guitar and vocals, with Carlton Taylor (guitar, vocals and keyboard), Matt Girling (guitar, vocals and keyboard) and Adrian Dacre (drums), experiment with different riffs and musical angles.

Pete Brown’s Day Tripper play the Crooked Billet in Newlands Lane, Stoke Row on Monday, December 29. Tickets cost £30 as a music cover charge. For more information, call (01491) 681048 or visit www.thecrookedbillet.co.uk
