A CAMPAIGN to provide aid in response to the refugee crisis in Europe has attracted widespread support. People in the Henley area have been donating goods and money to help those in need and there will be a peaceful gathering in the town centre at noon tomorrow (Saturday) in support of a national day of action called “Refugees Welcome Here”.

First-class carriages are to be removed from trains to and from Henley. First Great Western will be running trains without the carriages on its turbo fleet from next Sunday. The company says this is to allow for more standard-class seating. A spokesman said: “We will be bringing new and almost new electric trains into the Thames Valley. These should start to come into service in 2016.”
