A DAREDEVIL Wargrave man has wing walked his way into the record books after standing on the wing of a biplane at 2,000 feet - even though he has a pacemaker. After the hair-raising flight from Baginton Airport in Coventry on Tuesday, Douglas Penn believes he is the first man in the world, fitted with a cardiac pacemaker, to attempt such a daring feat.
Organisers of the four-day Henley Festival of Music and Arts, which came to a sticky end on Saturday night after rain did its best to ruin the event, are counting the cost of the bad weather. They are bracing themselves for a financial loss after having to fork out thousands of extra pounds to enlist casual labour and provide wooden pallets for walkways to protect festival-goers from what became a sea of mud on the riverbank where the event was staged.
Festival season ticket holders, having experienced the conditions of their first night, came well prepared on Thursday evening, all with umbrellas and many wearing Wellington boots and raincoats over their evening dress.
