SOME years ago, Trinity School in Henley was sometimes described as “a slum school.” All that has changed since the building of new premises on the Normanstead site which took its first pupils in September and which officially opened on Saturday last in the presence of a large gathering of people including parents of pupils and friends of the school.

Four Sonning Common boys appeared at Henley Juvenile Court on Monday and admitted being concerned together in causing damage to 10 panes of glass in windows at a house called Pengelley at Sonning Common, the property of J Pye (Oxford). The damage was put at £1 10s, but the father of one of the boys, who had described the house as derelict and with bulldozer tracks running through the garden, said he understood the windows were already broken when the boys got to the house.

On June 4 at Meriden, Warwickshire, Mrs J Charles, a member of the Bowmen of Henley, won the Royal Toxopholite Society’s trophy and silver medal for the British Long Bow Society’s clout shoot. This competition is made more difficult by the fact that archers shoot two ways. This is the first time the trophy has been won by a member of the local club.
