THE Oratory School hosted its inaugural cross country event in partnership with South Oxfordshire’s schools cross country programme.

More than 200 people turned out to support around 130 runners from school years 1 to 6. There were 12 races in total with the distance ranging from a distance of 700m for the younger years through to 1,700m for the year 6 groups.

The course was set out across The Oratory School’s 100 acres of rural countryside in Woodcote.

Henley’s Trinity School took the honours in three events — year 1 girls’ and boys’ and year 4 girls’ — while Kidmore End and Moulsford House both picked up two wins each.

Steve Tomlinson, director of sport at The Oratory, said: “Feedback was incredibly positive and we look forward to hosting more of these cross country runs in the future. Due to demand, we will also consider introducing races for the older Year 7 and 8 groups.”

Mr Matthew Fogg, acting head of The Oratory, added: “The morning was incredible, and it was wonderful to be able to share our school grounds with members of our local community.”
