Sweary swimmer

HENLEY Mermaid Laura Reineke almost got in over her head at one point on her Channel swim.

The open water swimmer took on the whopping 21 mile challenge from Dover to France on Wednesday, as we report elsewhere.

Having a feed at 10:45am, she appeared exhausted and said to the crew and supporters on the accompanying pilot boat: “How the f*** did Sarah Thomas swim this four times?”, referring to an American cancer survivor who became the first person to swim the Channel four times non-stop.

However, Laura picked up her pace and was ahead of schedule as she maintained an impressive stroke rate of 58 for almost the whole way.
