THE Abbey is a multiple award-winning school for girls aged three to 18. It is a place of curiosity and adventurous spirits and offers the excitement of discovery.

We focus on individual care and attention in a warmly supportive atmosphere full of fun and laughter. Our students have the assurance to take risks, explore interests and passions and engage generously with the world and with each other.

Our results are outstanding but what matters to us is how students achieve them. Our goal is to equip girls to live with confidence, purpose and joy. This means providing exceptional opportunities across the widest spectrum of learning and activities. We offer more choice in our curriculum than almost any other school, so that students lead their learning and mature into the people they mean to be.

We have played a leading role in all-girls education for more than 130 years. During that time, we’ve adapted and innovated and that is true now more than ever. Our offer of free places at Little Knellies, for eligible girls aged three to four, demonstrates our commitment to providing as many children as possible with the best possible start in their educational journey. That commitment to excellence and unlocking curious and inquisitive minds continues in the junior school with the human intelligence initiative – simply put, it is the most exciting, innovative, and rigorous curriculum available anywhere in the country.

Once at the senior school, students enjoy independence and a wealth of extracurricular opportunities, which are very much a part of the learning experience at The Abbey and create a special energy and buzz around our school.

We may refer to it as “extra” but we see participation as an essential part of the journey here and an important way of building skills for life. The Abbey has always been known for providing access to a wide variety of opportunities for enrichment and the name given to the programme represents our “edge” — the added value of an Abbey education. We believe that by having the chance to try many new things and explore their talents, girls can also learn about themselves and others, building essential connections and unlocking potential.
