Firefighters from three counties still 'checking for hotspots' after Burnham roof fire

Firefighters are still 'checking for hotspots' this morning (Thursday) after fire units from three counties responded to a fire that had spread to the roof of a Burnham home on Wednesday night.

The Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service received reports of a fire on Huntercombe Lane in Burnham at 7.52pm on Wednesday, November 12.

Crews from Ascot, Slough, Langley, Maidenhead and Windsor fire stations were sent to the scene, along with crews from the London Fire Brigade and Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service.

They arrived with an aerial ladder platform, an Incident Command Unit, a Water Bowser and four Officers.

Upon arrival, crews discovered a fire that had spread into the roof of a three-storey house.

Residents in the vicinity were urged to close their windows or avoid the area whilst the team responded to the incident.

Firefighters used the aerial ladder platform, a high-volume pump, three hose reels and three main jets to extinguish the fire.

They remain at the scene of the incident, both 'checking for hotspots' and 'damping down'.

In a statement on X at 10am, Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Crews remain at the scene of the incident, damping down following last night's fire.

"Thank you for your ongoing cooperation whilst we continue to respond to this incident."
