VOLUNTEERS are needed to help stage the next Henley Youth Festival.
This includes someone to succeed Laura Law, who stepped down as chair after this year’s 30th anniversary event.
The new recruits will be expected to shape ideas and formats for some of the events and activities.
Next year’s festival will take place in March. The theme has not yet been chosen but will be either “Growing” or “Our town”.
Ms Law, who lives in Emmer Green, had been in charge of the event for the past three years but no longer has the time to devote to it due to work commitments.
She said: “It was nice for me to give back a bit to Henley after growing up there. I hope there are other people who feel that way and will come forward.” The new chair will be supported by a team of event organisers and other volunteers as well as a clerk.
The festival’s trustees are also actively involved in helping to deliver the event.
The chair’s role involves one to two hours a week between September and March and can be filled by one or two people. Planning for the festival starts in September.
The festival is also looking for a treasurer to oversee the finances and prepare simple accounts. This role can be undertaken remotely if necessary.
Trustee Tim Hoskins, who is headteacher of Badgemore Primary School in Henley, said: “We’re looking for new volunteers to join the team well in advance of the next festival.”
