ARE you over 50 and thinking about improving your health in 2023? Why not try our local tai chi classes?
Effortless and graceful movements, practised with calm concentration, will restrengthen muscles, enhance flexibility, improve balance, restore posture, boost immunity, increase stamina, raise energy levels and calm the mind.
The best results are attained by practising in a relaxed and unhurried manner which makes the experience extremely pleasurable. Tai chi differs from other types of exercise in several respects; movements are never forced, muscles are relaxed rather than tensed, joints are never fully extended and connective tissues only lightly stretched.
The greatest benefit of tai chi comes from integrating the core principles into one’s everyday life, seeking relaxation and calm in all situations.
In partnership with Abingdon and Witney College Adult Learning Team and supported by AgeUK, classes for the over-50s will begin in Henley in the YMCA hall, Lawson Road, on Fridays from 11.15am to 12.15pm from January 6, 2023.
Classes will also take place at Centre70 in Wallingford (Tuesdays 2pm to 3pm) and the Memorial Hall in Watlington (Tuesdays, 11am to noon) from January 10.
