WARGRAVE WOMEN ran out 2-0 winners in their Division 3 South clash with SANDHURST WOLVES WOMEN at the Recreation Ground. Alison Richardson and Millie Whitmee were both on target for the hosts.
In the Development Division, GORING UNITED WOMEN RESERVES ran out 1-0 winners at promotion-chasing STANFORD-IN-THE-VALE WOMEN with Mia Alegria netting the only goal of the match after two minutes.
In the league cup, ROTHERFIELD UNITED WOMEN crashed out of the tournament after going down to a 2-1 defeat at home to TAPLOW UNITED LADIES.
The game started with plenty of play in midfield with the first chance coming from Rotherfield with a ball forward from Jones that found Lane but her shot was saved by the Taplow goalkeeper.
After 10 minutes Taplow were pressing hard with two good attempts at goal before Rotherfield’s Lane had another chance from a Rillet throw-in but her effort was safely caught by goalkeeper. This was followed by a shot from Palmer which went narrowly wide.
After 35 minutes a Taplow striker fired home a low shot that went under Carpenter’s dive to give the visitors the lead.
Rotherfield continued to attack with Norman’s through ball finding Palmer but her shot went wide. Just before half time Taplow went 2-0 up with a swinging shot from the left wing.
Early in the second half Taplow had a couple of shots on target but Rotherfield fought back with countless attacks. United were rewarded in the 70th minute after calm control from Tong in the middle sent a through ball to Lane who took the ball around the keeper to score.
Rotherfield forged several meaningful attacks putting pressure on Taplow, with two shots in quick succession hitting the crossbar and another wide attempt from Palmer.
Taplow kept pressing making
the Rotherfield keeper work hard and had a goal line clearance cleared by Dry in the dying minutes.
