EMMER Green produced a fine comeback performance at Tilehurst YM, overturning an early setback to earn an impressive win in their Reading and District Sunday League Premier Division clash.
The hosts struck first, catching Emmer Green cold to take the lead despite a good opening spell from the visitors. From that moment on, Emmer Green took control and showed their quality across the pitch.
The equaliser came from a well-worked set piece. Charlie Cooper delivered a pinpoint free kick into the box, and Joe Roff rose highest to head home.
Soon after Cooper was brought down by the Tilehurst goalkeeper leaving the referee with no choice but to point to the spot. In-form forward Luke Maze stepped up and calmly dispatched the penalty to give Emmer Green a 2-1 lead at the break.
The third goal arrived after a fine solo run from Maze who went past several defenders before being fouled on the edge of the box. Pele Hagger fired home to make it 3-1.
The visitors sealed the result with a fourth goal from another set piece. Hagger turned provider, whipping in a corner that found Cooper, who nodded home.
