Villagers loss

HENLEY EXILES got back on track in the Reading and District Sunday League with a comfortable 6-1 win at HKRG in Division 5 last Sunday.

Henley started quickly and were dominant throughout the first half although it took them
40 minutes before opening the scoring when Lincoln Winters whipped a low cross into the box for Billy Whittaker to tap in from close range.

Will Sheard hit a curling long-range effort that the keeper couldn’t deal with to make it 2-0.

This was soon followed by a quick-fire brace from Ben Stodolnic when he was released with a long ball from Charlie Saul firstly and placed it into the bottom corner, then tucked away the penalty he won shortly after.

In the second half Henley Exiles continued to pile on the pressure and five minutes in, Connor Gough looped a good ball into the box and Rufus Gould stuck it away neatly at the far post.

HKRG scored a consolation goal directly from a free kick against the run of play.

The Exiles continued to play well and probe at the opposition and rounded off the scoring with another penalty, this time tucked away by man-of-the-match Connor Gough.
