A STUNNING bicycle-kick goal by Annalea Lane secured ROTHERFIELD UNITED WOMEN all three points in a 4-3 Division 3 West win at SUMMERTOWN ALL STARS AFC LADIES on Sunday.
Summertown went wide of the target early on before Rotherfield opened the scoring after 10 minutes when Dagmar Heilbuth pounced inside the box to put the visitors ahead, neatly finishing off a well-worked move set up by Leila Aljabar.
Hannah Palmer doubled the lead on 20 minutes, again with Aljabar providing the assist. Ten minutes later, Palmer made it 3-0, finishing confidently after good work from Rebecca Dry.
Summertown pulled a goal back shortly before half-time to make it 3-1 at the break.
The hosts narrowed the gap when they scored from the edge of the box on 55 minutes before equalising soon after through a cruel deflection off a Rotherfield defender leaving the keeper stranded. With both sides pushing for a winner, Rotherfield held firm at the back before the final play of the match saw Rebecca Dry whip in a pinpoint corner, Kat Horwood’s deft touch found Lane, who somehow escaped her marker and executed a bicycle kick into the top corner.
Elsewhere in the division, GORING UNITED WOMEN went down to a 5-0 defeat at TILEHURST PANTHERS WOMEN’S RESERVES.
In Division 3 South, WARGRAVE WOMEN went down to a heavy 6-0 defeat at unbeaten league leaders HAREFIELD UNITED WOMEN.
