THE Lynch and Hallsmead Ait, two islands in the Thames at Shiplake, have been left to nature, making this stretch of the river a popular mooring spot.

With the river levels at their lowest for some time, three sunken boats have become visible.

Two of them are narrow boats that were presumably tied together whey they sank to the river bed. This curious figurine is now visible on one of them. Does anyone know anyone know anything about it?
