JOURNALIST, writer, comedian, TV presenter and celebrated interviewer Sir David Frost is buried in Nuffield churchyard in a modest grave.
In the Sixties his satirical news show That Was the Week that Was held cult status and had John Betjeman, John Cleese and Dennis Potter as contributory scriptwriters. It was followed by The Frost Report and Breakfast with Frost. His catchphrase “Hello, good evening and welcome” is recorded at the foot of his headstone in my picture.
Sir David became known for significant interviews with royalty, celebrities and political figures. His interviews with former American President Richard Nixon, where he admitted his part in the Watergate scandal, watched by an audience of 45 million, led to important repercussions throughout the world, especially concerning political power and accountability.
