Svendsen and Darke secure silverware at Goring events

GORING Thames Sailing Club held its Annual Residents’ Bowl for adult racing and the Archie Ferguson Memorial Trophy for juniors in competitions that were fought out amid difficult racing conditions with both hot sun and light winds for the 18 competing boats.

In the junior event, Mattie Svendsen secured first place in his topper where his experience shone through. Newcomer Jacob Boyd helmed the RS Vision where he sailed a fine race to cross the line in second place while Fleur Evans finished third.

In the adult section, the highlight was James Barlow in his laser finding his own extra wind throughout. While he managed to almost lap the entire fleet to win the first race comfortably, Andrew Darke increased his 2025 grasp on the club’s trophies, by putting together a second and first, to secure top honours. Mark Hazelden was third.
