A JUNIOR sailor from Goring Thames Sailing Club finished second in the Topper Worlds Silver Fleet at Medemblik, Holland.
Mattie Svendsen, 15, competed in the eight races over a week with the variable wins of zero to 35mph and thunderstorms.
Qualifying for the silver fleet race series, Svendsen performed well against helms from as far afield as China and Ireland to finish on the podium in second place.
Svendsen’s place overall among this world-class International Topper Fleet Championship, with competitors also from countries such as Australia and South Africa, was 69th.
