Spying in town mystery

OXFORD’S very own Creation Theatre, which will be 30 next year, employs freelance actors and is known for its immersive and audience-friendly productions, writes Philip Gooden.

The company is bringing back Sherlock in Summertown after a successful run in early summer.

This is a new Holmes mystery but writer-director Helen Eastman will be using familiar tropes, sights and sounds, from deerstalkers to the sound of a violin resonating from an upstairs window.

The mystery will be unravelled in the contemporary setting of north Oxford.

The audience of sleuths — i.e., you — will walk around with a member of the cast in this promenade production while trying to crack the mystery.

Suitable for adults, it runs from September 26 to 28. For more information, visit creationtheatre.co.uk/ show/sherlock
