TWO men had a lucky escape when their 1940 Tiger Moth had an emergency landing in a field in Remenham — and then flipped over. A pilot from Tiger Fly, based at Wycombe Air Park, who does not wish to be named, managed to land the Royal Air Force trainer aeroplane in a field near Ashton Lane, Remenham, after the engines cut out mid-flight. But the plane flipped when the landing gear snapped after hitting an obstacle on the ground.

Shoppers have been told “don’t panic” as fuel supplies begin to flow again. But in Henley yesterday (Thursday), there was “petro-mania” as an overnight delivery reached the Esso garage in Reading Road. Police were forced to divert traffic as jams backed up to the town centre.
