IN spite of being hit by inflation, Henley Show managed to break even this year with attendance figures of around 8,000, whcih is an improvement on last year. But the organisers warned this week that membership costs will have to rise to keep pace with increasing costs. The cost of this year’s show is expected to be between £5,000 and £6,000 and costs are still rising.
Entries for the competition to find the Henley Driver of the Year are building up, and on Sunday October 5, contestants will line up in the King’s Road car park at 10am for the first stage — a check on brakes and lights. This will be followed by an 11-mile drive accompanied by a police officer, manoeuvring tests in King’s Road car park and questions on the highway code.
